If you can relate to at least one of the following, you’re on your way to becoming a certified “real auier”:
You found yourself mixing the three languages in a conversation with your friends like it’s normal
When you live within the AUI community, it usually becomes a habit of yours to mix English, French, and Arabic in one sentence. Often AUIers refer to it as the AUI Linguo! Hence, don’t be confused if you’re in a club reunion, a friend gathering at the restaurant, or even a team meeting in the library and nobody is solely using one language!
You got lost in building four
Building four is definitely AUI’s labyrinth. When you enter it, it looks normal, but once you go upstairs for the first time, it gets more complicated. Well, if you ever get lost there, know that we have been there too!
You had to change your morning outfit because of Ifrane’s crazy weather
Exclusively in Ifrane, you can enjoy all the four seasons in one day. I can’t even count how many times I had to change my clothes because of unexpected rainfall or heatwave. Thus, always prepare your closet for surprises!
You bought an AUI hoodie/beanie
If tourists buy Eiffel tour keychains as souvenirs for a two weeks-trip in Paris, AUIers buy at least one of the university’s hoodies/beanies as the souvenir of their college experience.
You pulled an all-nighter in library/lab
As much as I hate all-nighters, it is no doubt that they hit differently in AUI during finals season when everyone is overwhelmed. So, if you ever need to pull one, you’re not alone, most of us have experienced it!
You slipped on ice
During winter, most of AUIers tend to experience slipping on ice in front of people. Whether it is in the academic area or next to the mosque, it is an embarrassing moment, yet, very fun memory of the campus life!
You go to the library to NOT study
Even though our library is one of the most convenient places to study, we still go there sometimes with no study purposes. It is always a pleasure to spend some time there appreciating the architecture, the novels, and the people!
You already heard “tacos poulet, ça marche”
It is perhaps one of the first sentences that one could hear in AUI, exactly in ProxiRest. Funny how It is repeated way too often, that most AUIers recall it. It embodies the dining experience at the university.
You experienced the Add/drop stress
If soldiers get prepared for war, AUIers get prepared for the Add/drop period. But don’t worry, your mentors will make sure you survive it, good luck!
