The newly admitted SGA senators started the new semester with many announcements. The academics committee, in particular, has recently come up with decisions that maybe many AUIers were looking forward to.
When 60% of students of a class are on-campus, the class will turn into a hybrid one even if decided otherwise before. The current policies on categories of students permitted to stay on-campus are still not clear for many nor the questions of whether or not staying on campus translates into having face-to-face classes are answered. However, the announcement implies that staying on campus gives a possibility of attending face-to-face classes which is a recipe of happiness for freshman students in particular.
Moreover, it is decided that hybrid classes must be recorded starting this coming week. Recording class sessions was not welcomed by all faculty since the university turned fully online last Spring. Now with the current situation of connectivity hurdles, there are few other alternatives left.
The news comes with its pros and cons for both sides; students and faculty. One is to wonder how the supervision of implementations work and whether the decisions are welcomed by everyone or not.
