BREAKING: Campus lockdown to be relaxed starting Monday 28th

AUI’s Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abdessamad Fatmi has just announced that the campus lockdown that was established last week might be lifted if the university is “reassured by the safety-protecting behaviors within our community” on Monday 28th September. Students will be allowed outside campus every other day for a period of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Dr. Fatmi also stressed the importance of respecting preventive measures such as social distancing, disinfection, hand washing, and wearing masks at all times. Punitive measures are also on the table, as more than 40 warnings were issued as well as one dismissal as a result of breaching the university’s regulation. The university will also cooperate with local authorities to make sure that unauthorized gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited as well as enforcing checks on students traveling outside Ifrane. Finally, the university & SGA will work on labeling restaurants and cafés in Ifrane depending on their safety levels.

The next few days will prove crucial in AUI’s battle against COVID-19, as many noticed that safety measures are not respected by all students.
