On October 3rd, one of AUIs’ most unavoidable and irreplaceable traditions took place in an unusual and “socially-distanced” manner. The AUI clubs fair! An opportunity for both new and continuing students to learn more and join the different club opportunities provided by the university. Sign-up sheets were sent to all AUI students to register for the limited spots of the event. In collaboration with the Student Activities Office (SAO), the Student Leadership Council (SLC), and volunteers, a variety of presentations and displays were showcased in the 5 different auditoriums of the academic area by the distinctive club boards and active members.
The Chronicle made sure to be present and active in this critical and meaningful event by conducting a face to face interaction with students, explaining our mission, our goals, our morals, and the different accomplishments achieved until now. Fortunately, through a show of hands, a large majority of newcomers assured having already heard of or read the Chronicles’ articles.
On a different note, big events always come with huge responsibilities and a lot of unexpected events. The club’s fair is no exception. An important number of students that did not register prior to the event started flowing, the auditorium’s capacity was not enough to support the audience, combined with the numerous technical issues and lack of internal communication between the different organizational parties.
With all that being said, the clubs fair was an immaculate success. In that sense, this Fall 2020 semester will be an exceptional opportunity for clubs to prove that no matter what hardships are faced, the AUI community commitments to reviving clubs remain unshakable.
