On July 8th, President Amine Bensaid and the chancellor of the board of trustees, Abdellatif Jouahri, conducted a press conference to unveil the AUI’s new strategic plan for the upcoming 5 years. Since this year happens to be the university’s 25th anniversary, the press conference started with a reflection on AUI’s achievements, taking pride in the fact that is the only university in Africa to have American accreditations.
The President states that this strategic plan takes into consideration the major events currently happening in Morocco such as the adoption of the bachelor system by the ministry of education, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new model of development.
In a nutshell, the strategic plan focuses on three major points:
- Student’s potential and the university’s ability to train students to fit the current job market.
- Tracking the growing improvement of the university through its network of alumni who contributed to the development of Morocco.
- The internationalization of students, considering the fact that 3 out of 4 students from the last graduating cohort have had an experience of one or two semesters abroad and a campus founded on international standards by the presence of both international professors and students.
Additionally, the president praised the establishment of both the CLE and First-Year Experience Program for their success and efficiency in the transition of students from Moroccan and French education systems to the American one.
Furthermore, the president revealed the new majors added in both SSE and SHSS starting Fall 2020. SSE has introduced bachelors in:
- Big Data Analysis
- Artificial intelligence
- Cyber-physical systems
- Cloud and Mobile Software engineering
- Computer systems
- Renewable energies
SHSS added two new majors:
- Environmental Studies & Sustainability

The chancellor and the president both assured that AUI is going to continue to provide quality e-learning during the pandemic and will ensure that more partnerships are established in the near future with neighboring universities in order to maintain its role in the area.
Finally, they both denied rumors about opening new campuses in cities such as Casablanca or Rabat since the location of the university is considered to be a trademark
