With the COVID-19 restrictions, life on campus for Fall 2020 is definitely different from former semesters. Since their return to campus, students have been facing different issues from dining takeout fees to the workflow at the main gate. As part of their tremendous effort, Al Akhawayn Student Government Association shared a statement on the Facebook group ‘Student Community at AUI’ on October 8th informing students about important updates.
- New campus store offerings: Luncheon, more cereal options, oatmeal, cheese slices, panini bread, and spices (Moroccan brands). Keep in mind that these items will replace the AUI Merch that will be transferred to the old book store. Simultaneously, SGA is still working on providing “Dinde/jambon fumée”.
- Dining takeout fees: the bag fees will no longer apply for both Proxirest and Newrest since takeout has become a necessity for all students.
- Fruits and vegetables on campus: for the first time ever on campus, fruits, and vegetables will be offered in Building 14 (the middle space next to Proxirest between the stairways). Starting next week, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, cucumbers, bananas, and apples will be available and sold in 0.5kg units.
- Main gate access: Due to the heavy workflow at the main gate, SGA announced that students could now exit campus at any time before the curfew for 2.5 hours with the future implementation of a cash wallet access system, developed by two FYE admins.
